Posted @withregram • @deborahlblackwell When I sat down to share my latest blog post on social, things started to get weird. I thought I was having a stroke…or was facing the early stages of a neurodegenerative disease…or was so exhausted from a pre-melanoma skin cancer ordeal these last few weeks and subsequent surgery last week, that my body and mind were just spent.

I tried to collect myself enough to pour two glasses of medical grade electrolytes, and while those were dissolving, gobble the fast chew equivalent for “emergencies.”

Then I called my doctor, who reminded me that this was a particularly bad POTS episode. I should have guessed it was coming on, it had been building for days with debilitating symptoms that screamed MORE SODIUM AND POTASSIUM NEEDED PLEASE. With POTS you need a whole to of salt to help keep things in better balance.

When I stabilized, I realized POTS isn’t for the faint of heart. And in that moment, I was so proud of myself for enduring this wretched condition for the last 3 years with no end in sight.

Then I thought about how LIFE isn’t for the faint of heart either, and decided to take my own advice that I shared in my post, “If It’s Not One Thing, It’s Another (and what to do about it).”

Earlier today was scary, but as I post this now, I find it interesting that what happened is what I wrote about: one thing gets resolved, but another crops up, again and again and again.
